Let this be a lesson to you. Make sure the fridge is stocked full of beer at all times. Such events can leave an emotional scar
yes, always stock up, as having to buy beer or wine at a tavern bottle shop on a Sunday will cost you an arm and a leg.

Redback please

Yup, exept for a few places that go till midnight:

*Clarence hotel near the mater hospital (Midnight most nights)
*Another hotel on Leichhardt street near Petrie Terrace (can't remember the name) - northside in the city
*A BS next to Supercheap on logan road in stones corner is till 12pm on fri and sat. Also (I think) the drive-in one in stones corner too.

Not that I've noticed

Another thing to mention, when shops here, not just bottle shops but any small shop, says its closing time is say 6pm, they mean they will literally be locking up and leaving at 6pm.

So if you turn up at 5:30, the staff will already be closing the tills and packing things away.

If you turn up at 5:45, they may or may not serve you.

If you turn up at 5:55, you get to watch the last employee pulling down the shutters, locking them and leaving.

Seriously I turned up at a butchers (which claimed to close at 6pm) at 5:30, just to see one guy left hosing down the empty shelves and floor. I turned up at a fruit barn that claimed to be open until 5pm, at 4:30, it was already closed. I've many other examples of turning up at shops 1hr or less before closing time just to realise they really didn't want to serve me because they were closing.

They should change the signs from 'closing :6pm' to 'Staff leaving come hell or high water :5.55pm'
