Default Books in OZ

We all know how expensive books are in OZ. My personal experience is Borders is one of the better book stores for choice. They seem to be gearing up their on line presence as well

25 % off 2.5 million titles online

If you sign up to Borders you also get regular store vouchers for 20-30% off books (I do like to go in and mooch)

I have also very recently ordered several books from

The book depository

delivery was free and took about 5 days

We've been using the Book Depository as well lately!

We've been fortunate enough to go back to the UK once a year so far so I spend my time stocking up in Asda, Tesco's and Sussex Bookshop!

You can also find some cheap books in the newsagents when they do 3 for $15 and I've picked up a few good novels this way.

Angus & Robertson also do 5 for $25 every now and again. You have to hunt through the piles but again found a few good gems.

Otherwise get a book swap meet together which is what we've done on Britvics - a great way to get new reading supplies and meet new friends!

Booko is an Australian site that does a comparison on book prices from a number of sites both here and overseas.

Prices include conversion into AUD and delivery charges where charged.

Cheers

Forgotten about the second hand bookshops...! We have a great one in Mornington but what with my supplies from the UK and the book club I hardly ever need to go in there!

For Sydney folk there is a good one in Manly in one of the back streets.

I love Book depository.
However Borders.com.au is very slow for delivery.
I ordered a book from Bookdepository and it came in 7days, 3weeks late I was still hounding Borders for a book ordered on the same day.

I will stick with Book depository or Amazon in future.
Booko is good for price comparisons, especially Uni books which are bloomin expensive.

Book Depository is great, though a nightmare to browse. I browse on Amazon till I find the one I want then compare prices and usually order from Book Depository.
The Borders offers they do by email are fab too, got some real bargains that way.
And of course after a month back here these is a huge box on its way back with books from Asda, Tesco, WHS, Waterstones.......all worth the shipping cost!!

you can now buy the amazon kindle device internationally and then buy books on it, they are wireless delivered, no contract or anything needed for the wireless.

the screen looks just like a book as it uses eink, I love the little thing. No more books sitting on shelves to only be read once they just all sit on this sexy little device.

Worth getting one if you like to read

Many thanks for the link to the book depository - I haven't seen that before and it seems great!

We have just received a book from Borders USA: AUD$33.54 and it took over four weeks. The BD price is AUD$16.....

Aye, "Bruce and Sheila Try To Find A Bottle Shop At 10pm" is a definite step up. It's full of suspense and an element of danger ...

Anyway, back to the plot ... Angus And Robertson have failed to deliver my on-line order twice (having taken the cash) so add that to the mix ...
