Default Booking a last minute holdiay ... ugghh

My Dh has just announced that he would like to go away for a week before the children go back to school on the 27 of January. So has asked me to find somewhere about 1-2 hours from Sydney (any longer and the children are going doowally), on the beach for swimming and fishing with a pool. Not keen on camping but a villa of some sort with bbq and kitchen.
Have tried most of the Big 4 and have had a look at Beachside Holidays which are all booked up (no surprise)
Does anyone know of anywhere else that I could try or any last minute booking sites?

Thanks

- any suggestions for somewhere within 3 hours ideally west or south of Hervey bay - this time definately for camping - over new year. 3 young boys (4,6,8) that need activities to consider...

I've camped on the beach soth of Rainbow Beach a few times (is that 40 mile beach?). Now that is good fun. Actually camp on the beach itself, not in one of the campsites.

Activities include, beachcombing, fishing, swimming, digging hole sin sand, collecting firewood and that;s about it, excellent fun.
