Were booked in for the 16th August OMG Im scared now, this week its all happening and coming together, were off from work this week and so far have managed to clear the loft and garage and have loads of boxes stacked up ready for a car boot sale on Sunday, loads of items are in the paper for sale, we have sold a few bits and pieces and suddenly its hit me that its all coming together and we should be off soon.

We went to The Stannary at Tavistock and the Nuffield in Plymouth and they were all so nice to us

Were going to the Tavistock and Nuffield clinic too, its good to hear they are nice there, just a bit worried about the medicals, were all quite fit and healthy, just worried they will find something we dont know about as its out of our hands

Yes were off to Perth, havent a clue what part of Perth though as we have never been to Perth before

We have only just put our visa in last month, we have sent the police checks with the visa application and are front loading the medicals too, as we hope to be out in OZ before xmas, with the back log of medicals we thought it best to get them done with so were not waiting around for them to clear.

does anyone know how strict they are on medicals, do you need to be just generally healthy do they look for any slight symptom of anything?

I dont think they're too strict - they just want to know your not going to cost them a lot in hospital treatments etc.

Well our medicals were fine. We gave a urine sample in and then waited. Then individually they took us in. We had an eye test, weighed us and the nurse asked questions regarding smoking, drinking, healthy etc. back to the waiting room and then into see the doctor. I then had a full MOT (no womanly checks) and he completed the paperwork. Pretty harmless

Thought you had to wait until they informed you to get meds and police...could we put in for them now? just sent visa app off yesterday..also where do i get forms for these? are they on immi like the visa forms etc?

There are a few threads on this. If you visa is granted you get 12 months from the date of police check or medical depending on which came first to validate the visa ( Touch oz soil ). Sometimes if there is a medical condition it can only be 6 months.

Therefore if you apply Jan 07 , do Meds and police in Mar 07, get the visa in Oct 07, you only have until Feb 08 to validate.

Some people will wait for the request , some will request them around the expected timeline ( i.e. if its 6 months between application, and request line them up for 6 months), some people rush ahead.

Depends on the queues for applications and meds, and whether you are happy to lose some of your validation buffer by applying early.

Police checks tend to always be 40 days.
