Default Booked our holidays to Perth

Finally booked our flights to Perth in August thought we had got a good deal with e-bookers at £690 only to find they have now come down to £645, never mind. Just wondering now how to keep a baby quiet for all that time, she is 6 months now but will be 11 months in August. Any ideas?

Sedative!

As a woman who once flew Oz to vancouver standing up by the bogs rocking a 12 kg baby for 15 hours, I am serious. I will never ever forget the moans and groans of the other passengers.

Practically, take lots of spare clothes for yourself. Babies always puke on you when you have nothing fresh to wear.

Book a seat for the Baby, 11 months is too big to be on your lap comfortably and they wont give you a sky cot over 6 months.

Pack twice as many nappies too, the airlines always carry the wrong size, try sticking a one year old in a new born diaper.!

Put every favourite toy away one month before the trip, then bring them back out on the plane.

Asprin panadol, every medicine you use, for yourself too, nothing worse than yourself getting ill, if you have a baby to look after.
When our kids were little I looked like a travelling junkie, but the times it saved us.

Our doctor actually prescribed "Phenergan" for the purpose of helping our baby sleep on the plane, although others replying on a previous thread of a similar nature about a year ago (do a search) suggested it was not a good idea giving sedatives, new advice shows that it has unwanted side effects because of the high altitude. At that time she just cried constantly and we were so worried about her crying through the whole flight and annoying all the other passengers.

You know what we did in the end? Left the baby with her grandparents. She was only 4 months old and was a very grumpy/colicky baby and a further visit to the doctor's suggested that the best prescription for me was a break! It did us good, but it was very hard to leave her behind!
