I have never flown VS but have used the LHR Club House on occasions when on an SQ ticket. The Club House certainly raised the bar in its day but their inflight reputation appears to have gone downhill in recent years. "Breakfast" on a long haul flight now can be little more than a hard muffin and a coffee/tea.

Flew air new zealand for first time. Premium economy. Nice chairs, roomy, whipped out the sealed blanket only to find it covered in what looked like sweet and sour sauce or worse.
Food was bizzare, tray of cold food, including your dessert then the dinner 5 mins later. Described as award winning it was economy food but someone had thrown sauce or weird garnish on it, the main was covered in green chopped gherkins in sticky snot (sorry!) looking sauce. Wine service was the economy drink trolley.
The food trays were on an angle, impossible to not have the meal or drink fly into your lap. The toilets had wallpaper covered in books and magazines, but the cabin had no actual reading materials? All very weird.

Agree that VS economy is very average - on a par with BA

VS 'Upper Class' is not as good as business on Qantas (A380) or Cathay IMO. I found the seats uncomfortable to sit in and very narrow and not very long to lie on (I'm 177cm, 5'10"). I did like the Clubhouse at LHR but the hard product was not up to scratch (old and dated, felt a bit grubby, food was practically inedible) so not to upset at their removal of HKG-SYD. There are better carriers for the same price.
