Default bonfires in oz

I live in England but not for much longer,as my family and I emmergrate to oz in the next week or so. Where we live - it is a bad area for bonfires, we have contacted the local council a 1000 times about this problem, but they are powerless to do anything about it, as there isn't a law as such. .So basically we have to live with it.This means anyone can burn anything they want when ever they want morning , noon and night .The government and so called MP's Especially the health ministers are a complete waste of space. And we wonder why there is so much cancer about! What are the laws on bonfires in oz? I went to canada 15 yrs ago and smoking was band in pubs, clubs and public places THEN .We are still waiting for the government to act in this backward country called the uk!

I can only speak for South Australia, we live in a area zoned as rural living{2,1/2acre} propertys you have to get a permit to burn, then you may only burn vegetation leaves, branches, etc in the suburb,s you cannot burn at all, most pubs smoking is only allowed in front bars, resturants smoking is banned, all goverment, workplaces both state&federal, are non smoking work places..................... You should check out this thread hope your not bound for Perth. Reading it reminded me of growing up in a small country village where it was the norm to burn logs in winter, seems years ago now since anyone had a good chimney fire

I believe fires are banned for most of the year in QLD, I cannot remember the last time I saw a fire anywhere that was someone burning rubbish. A lot of the year you are not even allowed open fires when camping on camp site.

Fires are a big problem here once they get started as everywhere is tinder dry a lot of the time.
