Yup, English celebration, not an Aussie one. Fireworks in June for Queens Birthday plus various other state functions.

Why not? I don't know - do Americans or Germans celebrate it? Do people in Hampshire celebrate Australia Day with fireworks?

Your reference to British people being criminals is a little unfair, as well.

In most states, the fire bans start on NOV 1, so you want to risk a $10,000 fine go ahead.............mm

"Guy fawkes" is just an excuse for bonfires and fireworks as the evenings draw in. It's a winter festival.
Apparently Jesus wasn't born in December either - Christmas took over from Yule (the winter solstice celebrations) to make it easier to convert pagans.

Guy Fawkes was a hardened terrorist, not a criminal. Should he have been alive in the 70 year period when transportation was used as a punishment for major and minor crimes, he would not have received the 'lenient' sentencing of transportation.

You cant actually buy fireworks in most states, nanny banned them! You can still get them in ACT but chances are they will be banned here too by next QBW because Stanhopeless has been itching to ban them for years because they traumatise all the poor widdle puppies and goldfish.
