Boat licences - got me one today :)
Well, you're now 'looking' at the proud owner of a boat licence.
I promised someone on here recently I'd let them know how it went, but I can't find the original post anymore Anyway, it went well, lasted all day and was easy-peasy!! So I'll be going out as a qualified driver on Wednesdsay.... watch out Queensland boaties!!

I've decided to continue posting as I have fallen in love again.......with Australia!
I retreated to the beautiful surroundings of Emerald in the Dandenong foothills to be with nature before returning to the UK. I,m not going to let a small setback like my life falling apart to stop me talking to my friends on this forum.
Sorry Michelle!

LOL Not every state does. You should be able to find out details on the same website as WA drivers licence is.
Tony - look me up if you get here, we'll go out on me boat
Wayne, in answer to your question, whenever you want!
Soapy - Its really very easy. Theory test of 50 questions, need 90% to pass (I got 100%, noone got less than 94%). Basically in three sections; Collision Avoidance, Flags & Buoys, Safety & anchoring. Our instructor took us through each section, and then tested us after, so easy to remember the answers. Plus, its multiple choice Apart from a couple of regulations, most of it is common sense anyway.
Then we spent some time on the actual water; I think having been in charge of a boat beforehand helped with my confidence, but again, easy tasks. Control of the boat, reversing to a specific point, pulling up against a jetty without running into it, handling at speed, navigation, picking someone up out of the water.
Then it was back to the classroom to go over map & chart reading. A quick play around with mapping out a trip. A chat about boat maintanence, and Roberts your Dads brother... a Boat Licence was mine
The day cost a one-off fee of $130, then you have to pay another $33.50 to QLD Transport to actually get (which is the wrong word, since its a virtual licence) your Boat Licence. Nothing to worry about, everyone passed!
