Default Surf boards for kids

As I have little to no idea about surfing has anyone got any recommendations on the best type of surf or body boards for kids.

We'd like to get them something nice but not to expensive. Also any recommendations on places to buy them in the Melbourne area

We just tried the local surf shops and asked lots and lots of questions - there was lots of differing opinion especially when trying to sell us expensive gear. The local shop to where we live gave the best advice - basically cause they know we would come back if not happy.

Near beach - You should be able to find a place that rents boards and gives lessons - try that first before spending out money. We have three boogie boards and one surf - really need two surf boards, cause it depends on what the kids are happiest with. Me I have beach rug and book! For wet suits we looked for sale prices for the kids cause obviously they grow - little horrors.

Cheers

In sydney Lets Go Surfing at Bondi gives good advice. Surfing and body boarding are an excellent way to keep the kids fit. Get them some surfing lessons and you can be confident that they will have the necessary skills to be safe.

You will soon have some stoked grommets ripping up the waves.
