Best to drive yourself, although this time of the year bring your own Snow gear.

Drove up there yesterday.... no snow. Was about 8 degrees on some of the lookouts.

Just pick what you want to see and jump in the car. Its nice to head out on the M4 in to the mountains and come back out at in the Hawkesbury (Richmond area) There are a lot of fruit shops that way selling apples and home made pies etc.

Took this pic from Hassans Wall Lookout near Lithgow

Chuff, it gets cold up there  Wrap up warm. We drive but you can also get a special train ticket from Sydney.

We used to like Afternoon Tea at the Hydro Majestic but I think it's currently closed.

The apple area is around Bilpin, I believe. There is also Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens around there - haven't been yet but have had them recommended.

There is also a great restaurant on Bells Line of Road at Kurranjong north of Richmond http://www.lochielhouse.com/ We've driven all the way up there for dinner a couple of times but they do breakfast and lunch on weekend too.

This might also help: www.bluemts.com.au

On a sunday, get the Family Fun Day ticket for $2.50 each and use buses, ferries and trains anywhere in the Sydney Metro and Greater areas, including all of the Blue Mountains.
