Default Bloody Strayans

I've got a complaint to make.

In London, I never had to buy a quality newspaper. All I had to do was board one of her Majesty's trains and choose from one of the Guardian (wasn't paying so could put up with it), The Independant, The Times, The Daily Telegraph. Even the Mail or the Express for a light read.

In Melbourne 9 times out of 10 all that is available is "Mx" - local free transport rag promoted by Connex.

How thoughtless of people.

Believe it or not I still love living here.

Just wait to one of the 'Knock Aussy until the arse falls out of it' brigade start trying to show this is some sort of sign that Australian literacy standards are 3.6 (adjusted) pc behind that of the UK, despite the fact that the biggest read newspaper in the UK is a comic called 'The Sun'. Aussy society is doomed to fail due to the lack of newspaper readership: lets face it, all Aussies are too insecure to read The Age or The Australian in public, or even leave them lying around for other souls, this alone spells the end of mateship too, I reckon.

The clock is ticking...

Nothing to do with the standard of literacy. its just to do with the standard of newspapers I'm sure if you could buy something of the standard of the Times/Telegraph/etc then people would leave them on trains The Australian isn't bad, but still lags behind in the quality stakes.......

Posted within 15 minutes, but not quite the predicted sort of whige - do I still win?

OK mate. Still open to inclusions!

The Age is good, as is the Weekend Australian. In my opinion, equates well to a Sunday Times or Telegraph.

Perhaps because the trains run on time (well most of them) that people dont have the time too read on the train?

Most people in the office are reading the FT online.

How Ironic that "The Sun" is the UK biggest selling, shall we call what it is "soft porn" - come on (no pun ment) its not really a newspaper. How did they come up with the name? What is the UK (market) needing - oh I know more Sun.

PS I miss the Sunday papers.

If they are not left on the train, could it not just mean that the "owner" has not finished it and so has taken it home to read or use it to start his fires

Today's Weekend Australian has some good opinion pieces on the budget (in the Inquirer section) but I have to say that the typos in it are shocking. I caught two just from my browsing. I wonder who actually poof reads?

Must be the same guy who checks the Guardian.

Though I can't say too much, as the Guardian is one of my favourite papers.

Australian newspapers - by and large - are complete rubbish. The Age and the Australian Financial Review are the only ones worth reading on a regular basis.
