Default Blackberry Season

Time for a ramble in the brambles Saturday - Sunday 2004 March 6 - 7.

Pick your fill or freeze / make jam for winter. Check locally to avoid herbicide sprayed locations.

Check the Weather

Have a weekend out in the country:
Bed and Breakfast

Ah, revives memories of a Uni vac spent picking blackberries with a couple of mates near Olinda in the Dandenongs. Spectacular scenery, sun on our backs, working in the outdoors, bit of money earned and the golf course and pub a few hundred yards down the road from the blackberry farm.

I don't think they used pesticides in those days and the weather used to be brilliant all the time - before they even heard of global warming, holes in ozone layer etc. We stayed in a bunkhouse on the farm and a luxury B&B it wasn't.

Yep. Land holders have legal obligation to control them as a pest.

Still plenty of areas where they grow wild and uncontrolled. Ask locally.

Best along creeks in wetter areas.

If you are in Adelaide.....head to Morialta for your BB fix. To my knowledge, they havn't been sprayed this year. If you want to check speak with the parks office.

All along the bottom of the cliffs are the thorny buggers.

They've taken over so much in the latter they've given up on the problem.
