Birth certificate
Does anyone know whether a UK birth certificate is valid if it doesn't show the names of parents?
Mine (1975) is a signed, handwritten certificate that just shows my name, my D.O.B. and where I was born.
On the Skilled Visa app. form (47SK), the checklist asks for a certified copy of birth certificate or family book(??) showing names of both parents. How do I get one??
Cheers,
Steve.

Re: Birth certificate
There should be a office of births and deaths in your area.
Think it has to be from the place you were born.
Just turn up and ask for a copy.
I did it the other day and cost me £7.50 for the full birth certificate.

I was told that I needed a full birth certificate by my case worker, with name of parents.
If you go to the registry office they can issue you one in 5 mins. They cost £7.00.
Hope this helps.

Yep, ditto what the others have said. You need a full birth cert (people are only ever issued with the 'short' certs at birth).
You can also order them online at http://www.statistics.gov.uk/registration/default.asp
This is what I did - very easy and very quick
