I've a Falcon XR6. Its nice. However - I wouldn't buy either if I was thinking about it again mainly due to the fact they are both fleet vehicles and do not hold any value at all. Instead I might be tempted by the New Toyota Aurion or a Mazda 6, Honda Accord which do hold value a lot better.

First off you will have to get used to calling them sedans not saloons, nobody will have a clue what you are talking about otherwise.
The new VE Commodore is head and shoulders above the BA Falcon. But before that there wasn't much to choose between them, both were quite poor build quality.
The Mitsibushi does not have a very good reputation over here, this goes back to the early Magna and Sigma, the new 380 is ok but is not selling anywhere near as good as they thought when it was launched.

It is no different to the UK really, never trust a car salesman as far as you can throw them .
All joking aside we have brought 2 new cars, a Subaru and a Holden and both the dealers were very good, a little bit more pushy than the UK but not too bad.
There are a load of car supermarket type places that sell used cars and these are quite reasonable.

We have a Holden Berlina and its a very comfortable car to drive. Had it nearly two years now and no problems at all.
