The Big Move - Shipping advice
Hi all
Been hanging around here for a short while and found some of the advice invaluable during the visa stage.
I now have my visa sorted, flights sorted, and am looking at selling the majority of my possessions.
I have gotten rid of most things on the grounds it's cheaper to replace them than to ship (hifi, bike, computer etc.) however I have still found myself to have a great deal of things that are irreplaceable. I'm probably looking at 50kgs of limited edition vinyl, CDs, etc. that needs shipping.
Does anyone who's already done this have any advice on the most cost effective way of doing this? I don't mind if it takes a couple of months for things to arrive as none of it is important in the short run, the main thing is not being stung on cost.
Are there any companies out there that specialise in this type of shipping? Is there any specific service we should be looking at?
Any help that anyone can give would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Probably best to search for shipping companies like Excess Baggage and get quotes from three or four of them and then decide.

I'm on my phone on the run or I would give you the link, but search for the thread shipping small amounts to Australia. I recently did this and all the info is there

Thanks for all the advice everyone, much appreciated.
I'll take a look into them all through the week and see what I can find out.

Re: The Big Move - Shipping advice
the correct link is this one
I used UPS it cost me 70 pounds for a 14 kilo box going air mail and took 4 days
you can use sea mail which takes longer up to 3 months but with vinyl it might be dodgy
make sure you pack well as boxes get chucked around whoever you use. good luck
