Default Best way to get to Aus with 3 children

We're soon to be booking our flights to start our new lives in Sydney.
We have 3 children ages 9, 5 and 2. I'm after some advice as whether we should stop over for a couple of days, if so where? We've already done Bangkok and Seoul and have no desire to go there again.
Also, which airlines do people rate for kids?
We like to travel and visit new places so this is nothing new to the kids.
Thanks

The "long way" via the US - with stops in DC (Smithsonian) and LA (Disney)?

Never thought of going that way. Thanks that's something to think about.

Oh just get it over and done with, take whichever is cheapest at the time and gets you there in the shortest time, just get the 24 hours out of the way and get on with it. There will be enough adventure at the other end and they will probably be itching to get there and get started anyway.

I agree. Stopping over means that you have to go back to the airport and do it all over again.

Well, not sure about LA - I thought it a bit of hole.

There is also Hawaii and New Zealand that could be encountered on that route.

It used to be that by travelling that way round you could use the more generous US baggage limits - but I'm not sure that still holds. OP will want to consider baggage allowances, since you'll be living out of a suitcase till your stuff turns up by ship.

Otherwise there is the obvious stopover in Dubai.

I was going to suggest Singapore. We did a 3 day stop over there - did all the tourist stuff - Singapore zoo, Raffles, Sentosa Island. Would like to go back and see more of proper Singapore.

We did four days in Singapore, loved every minute of it. It felt like having a holiday between the madness of the selling up/moving lark and the madness of starting a new life. Loads to do and the children will love the night zoo and Sentosa Island.

That is exactly what we did. It was lovely doing some holiday stuff after saying goodbye to everyone.

Especially when we knew we wouldn't be having a holiday again any time soon.
