Default Best time to book flights to UK?

Hi,

We have only been here a few weeks, so have no experience of when the best time to book flights to the UK is. We need to go back at the end of August and wondered if it is generally better to book early or wait until a couple of months before.

I appreciate this is a tough one, as demand will have a huge impact, but wondered if anyone has gone through a similar thing?

Many thanks,

James

I tend to wait a while for sales and then pounce. I got a good one with the two for one sale with Qantas in November. If nothing crops up (but it usually does) then I have booked as late as a week before departure. I also tend to fly with the one airline then I get FF points and at the rate I am going, every third flight is a freebie (credit card helps). The later you leave it the less flexibility you have in deciding when to leave and come back - often it is the return trip which is the most difficult to organize.

Fly frequently

Also have it attached to my credit card (ANZ gold visa) so when I am doing my normal spending then I earn points. I know it isnt one of the best deals etc etc but it works for me.
