Question Best restaurant in Perth?

It's my birthday in a few weeks and want to celebrate with a meal out.

Does anyone have any suggestions of the best restaurant in Perth? Cost doesn't matter and if possible would like a view of the river/ocean. Unfortuantely I don't want seafood or indian which seems to restrict the options.

Thanks for any ideas!

Halo, Old Swan Brewery, Matilda Bay, Duende (Tapas in Leederville) and the Mullaloo Beach Hotel are probably the best I have had.

Halo's our favourite and In-Contro has always been good too, both have good views. If you like Chinese, the Grand Palace is good though the views aren't so hot.

We like Oceanus at Floreat. Right on the beach, amazing sunsets!

I would second Cocos in South Perth and the Mullaloo Beach Hotel. I would add The Red Herring in Freo http://www.redherring.com.au/index.htm and Blue Duck Cafe in Cottesloe http://www.blueduck.com.au/

no view but Star Anise in Shenton Park
C restaurant is overrated, i found it quite dated
jacksons in mt lawley (no view tho)
must bar mt lawley

personally i think that all restaurants with a view are overrated, they use the view to charge ridiculous prices!

We were bought a $300 voucher for Xmas and haven't used it yet. I have looked at the menu and there's next to nothing I would choose. Same with Jacksons, except there's even less on their menu I like.

We went to the C restaurant last weekend, fantastic view, great starter and desert but the main course was cold, sent it back and it came back...cold again The aslo add a surcharge at weekends and have set dinner times on Fridays and Saturdays. It is expensive, ok for a one off..
