Default Best place to watch live Premiership Soccer in Melbourne?

Hi everyone,
Quick bit of background...

My girlfriend and I move to Melbourne on August 23th from Newcastle upon Tyne and we are both very excited naturally We went over 2 and half years ago for a month's holiday to watch England play in The Ashes and we loved the place, so we decided to apply for skilled migration visa's which we got back in March this year.

Anyway back to my question, I was just wondering where will be best to watch live soccer(football) matches until we get Foxtel. I know the Crown Casino has a 24 hour Sports bar but can anybody recommend any other good bars where you can watch live Premiership matches?
(As close to the St Kilda/Albert Park area the better if poss)

Cheers.
Andrew

Glad you found the site ok.
I'm sure there are heaps of bars around the St Kilda area, I prefer the Aussie rules games now myself, I'm sure we can persuade you to get into the Aussie footy.

Well actually I have been watching some Aussies Rules Footy on Skysports so I'm familar with the game and how is good etc. It's a bit bizarre but not to bad I guess. I've decided to support St Kilda Saints as that is whereabouts we fancy living and your gotta support your lcoal team haven't you!!

However I love cricket just as much as soccer so that will be my best chance of talking sport with the locals

Hi we are moving to Melbourne soon and having been out there a few times already we were badgered about what footy team to support, brother in law & his mates support Brisbane Lions, there friends husband Essesendon and numerous other people were trying to convert us to there teams until I went into a sports shop and saw a blue footy shirt with CFC on it ( I am a huge Chelski fan) asked the lad in they shop who it was and he I am a new Carlton FC fan.

Hi John,
I'm a massive Newcastle United fan, for my sins , and I've had a season ticket for the last 13 years. Gonna really miss watching the lads every other Saturday

When do you move to Melbourne? Which area(s) do you fancy living in?

My girlfriend and I fancy Albert Park, St Kilda or St Kilda Rd area's but obvioulsy this could change when get there look more.

Andrew

The young lad in the sports shop said that they are like Liverpool, a sleeping giant and that one day soon they will be great again. After supporting Chelsea all my life I am used to clubs at the bottom of the league

Hi andrew, we move as soon as we can sell this bloody house. We will be living with one of my Sisters in Mount Eliza when we get there and we will probably live somewhere on the Mornington Peninsula, I have watched the premiership live a few times when I have been out there, but it can be at quite odd times, like the time I woke the whole house up at 1.30am screaming at the telly because Arsenal had just gone 1 up.

I've never been inside the actual establishment, but The Keeper's Arms on Queensbury Street is always advertising Premier League Football during the season.
