Problem with 1st october is that it will be the start of the school holidays (I think) so you might find this same problem with a number of places.

Anyway have a look at these sites

http://perth.stays.com.au/6573 in Sorrento (20ish mins from city centre) or http://sunsetcoast.stays.com.au/4909 in City Beach (10 mins from city centre)

Alternatively try (this one I know is v.good)

http://www.assuredhospitality.com.au...ts/default.asp

It's not on the beach, but is right next to the river and a lovely park, plus you can catch the ferry over to the CBD. Door to door (one way) will cost you A$1.30 and take less than 10 mins.

Also have a look at www.perthmeetandgreet.com They will be able to give you lots of help also

Try looking at www.staywa.net.au
this is also a really useful 150 page booklet full of accommodation all over WA which you can pick up at perth airport.i'm pretty sure they have a hotel booking service at the airport too, and they will help you even if you're arriving late. Most hotels will make arrangements for you to pick up a key/ or have a night time receptionist if you're arriving late.
We stayed at the Kingstone apartments in Hay street, (bang in the centre of the main street for Shopping and the Gaba) Perth. These are fab for the first few days and especially good for families as they sleep 6. If you are a couple you may prefer a B&B or a hotel but we found the best rates by just turning up eg the 5 star hyatt had walk in B&B rates of 99$ for a double room in March when we were there. Our apartments had a walk in rate of 120$, so you may want to book one night and have a look round the next day to get the best deals.

Just one other thought if you have time try and use a car to see more of WA. we went up north to the pinnacles and downto the far south west, visited the karri forests, and the tree top walk in Walpole, and the lovely rocks near Albany. There are the most beautiful beaches all over WA so you'll have a wonderful trip!
Wish we were going so soon!

Hi Salvador,
We stayed here Visit before last. Really nice accomadation with a big balcony. It was particularly memorable for us because we saw a right whale with her calf from the balcony.

If you are prepared to stay about 1/2 an hour from the city (south), try this place. We stayed last Christmas and New Year.

Gorgeous well equiped house, really nice location sea views, on the sea front and a short stroll from loads of beach from resturants, shops etc

We are staying here this Christmas and New Year don't know what it is like but it looks OK. This is a bit further south.
