Best place to get currency for Oz
Hi, any tips on where to get the best deals on currency to take to Oz?
£500 should do me for a few days. thanks

Post Office is as good as any. $500 is very little (in the grand scheme of things) so the rates are pretty much the same all over. Some banks charge for the privilege of getting the currency for you, the PO doesn't. Don't go to a Bureau D'change - they will rip you off. Some travel agents also have a change facility but I used to find them more expensive than the PO.

Maybe I didn't word it properly. I wasn't saying that it was only a piddly amount of money because it obviously isn't. In the money exchange world though you either have a few thousand plus plus plus that you can get better rates on with the major exchange companies, or a few hundred that those companies wouldn't touch because it's not worth their while. Anything under a couple of thousand would only be changed by the Post Office etc.
I think you can use your normal card if it's got Maestro or Cirrus (I think) on it providing you have a pin number but someone else will give decent advice I'm sure.
