Just bought a freezer yesterday from Clive Anthony's. They gave a good discount and were very helpful. There's also the other Clive - Clive Peters.

David Jones has some offers on at the moment and will price match. I bought a Smeg range oven, stainless backsplash and smeg hood there yesterday for only $2700 (ish) - it was originally $4,400

I've bought from The Good Guys and Retravision mainly and always got good deals. Myer can be good too when they have sales. I find Harvey Norman a rip-off.

Can't find any fridges

Buying electricals here seems a little different to the UK. You go to these warehouse places (good guys, retrovision etc) and when you find what you want you ask them how much discount they can give for a cash purchase (cash being any form of payment other than their finance deals). They typically give about 10%. If you need a few things then go somewhere that has a few of these places close together and compare the deals you're offered.

Totally agree. Hardly Normals seem to just add a high percentage to everything. I needed an HDMI lead for my TV recently - went to HN's and they had one for $150 and the salesman said to me (quietly) that he used to work in The Good Guys and they had the exact same lead for $80 (ended up buying it online for $30, but there you go!). I've also found the Good Guys much better for deals when you're buying a few items - you tot up the discount on each one and then say 'ok if I buy all that here, rather than getting it price-matched in Bing Lee - how much more can you knock off'.

Round this way I prefer Clive Peeters to the Good Guys or Clive Anthony but it's a personal thing and depends on the staff in all the places. Hardly Normal are a rip off - but they do it quite politely:D
