There are many nice Indians in Australia driving cabs and owning/operating the local 711. Not sure who is the best though. I'll get back to you.

There's a Malabar in Crows Nest - it's pretty good, though not fantastic. Depends on your tastes, I guess. Our Aussie friends rave about it.

Problem with many Indians here is that they all serve chicken thighs (well a problem if you are a chicken curry fan) They also nearly all hinge their menu on dreadfull 'butter chicken'

I have found a couple of good ones, Certainly check out Crows Nest which has a few. Thousand Spices Tawa Menu is recommended. They also sell chicken breast.

Here is a great link with reviews.... Eatability Reviews

Thanks for the replies. Will use for future reference. For information, ended up going to Manjit's in Balmain. It was pretty poor to be honest and quite expensive.

Chicken thigh has more flavour than breast - most Asians will use it in their cooking.

Might have to try a few of these myself.

I've enjoyed some good meals at Tandoori Palace in Darlinghurst (Oxford Street), but as I don't eat meat I can't comment on the chicken!

Their website is:

I just wish I had something as good in my local area.

Grace of India in Milsons Point (underneath the bridge) is a great Indian for takeaway and eat in.

Really? Shame I've bought tonight's dinner, will have to try that one. The closest one, on Blues Point Road, is very average.

Gotta be a Pom asking about a Indian?

Searched for 6 years in NZ for a real decent Indian meal and only ever found it once and it was down in no mans land in Invercargill!
(we lived on north island)

Now we are searching through the Indian restaurants of Canberra for a 'proper' Uk style curry.

Any decent curry houses near Darling Harbour?
