Best Holiday Resort on the Sunshine Coast...?
where's a good place to base ourselves for the beach, glasshouse mountains, australian zoo, may doa day trip to fraser island (if it's not too far?) somewhere that's got a bit of life to it?
Also can anyone recommend accommodation? somewhere that's great for kids (keeping them busy? kidsclub!?)
Thanks
Carmel

If you want Fraser Island then Hervey Bay. If you're planning on going soon then you could also do some Whale watching which is really great
If you want Sunshine Coast, I'd say Mooloolaba! Beautiful, place, great people and the best thai meal for $8 I've eaten in Australia!

Mooloolaba is very central to visit all part of the sunshine coast.
You can do whale watching from there also.
Ferrys to fraser are between 3-4 hrs or so drive away depending on where you get on.
The Thai Restaurant is called Thai Seasons and is on River Esplanade, and looks really grim! Food is spectacular and really cheap.
Units on Parkyn Parade are good value and perfectly positioned for the relatively safe and patrolled mooloolaba beach. Careful though of the dumping waves if the surf is big.

Is it possible to drive from mooloolaba to fraser island via rainbow beach? The tours seem to go this way, is a 4x4 needed or is it a sealed road?
