Brisbane does not have any beaches, except for the man made one at Southbank otherwise there are some amazing beaches on the Gold Coast-Main Beach, Narrowneck, Surfers, The Spit, Mermaid Beach, Currumbin and the SunShine Coast-Noosa, Mooloolabah etc...

Thanks for the info,
We are aware Brisbane does not have beaches but will probably live near Brisbane for work, but it will be nice to know we can drive to a nice beach at the weekend, The nearest one to us in the UK is Weston-Super-Mud

Our favorite beach is North Shore which is just above Maroochydore and near Twin Waters. Lovely and quiet with the Maroochy river one side which is great for kids and adults alike and the ocean the other side with surf.

Much nicer than Mooloolaba

Brings back memories, We used to stay at Brean in my mum & dads caravan. Beach was OK shame the sea was always about 3 miles out.

If you are staying at Petrie you are about 35 mins drive away from Brisbane to the North. You are ideally situated to explore the Sunshine Coast. Some lovely beaches up there .Closer to you is Redcliffe(About 15 mins drive) There's no waves here but its lovelly all the same.Or you can pop over to Bribie Island which also has some beautiful spots.
Have fun.
