Best Bank?
 

Hi all,

Can anyone suggest which would be the best bank to go with. I'm coming over on a one years working holiday visa and have a job nursing for the first three months.

I only really need the account to have my pay paid in and to use ATM to withdraw.

Any suggestions on which is the best, cheapest options with the most ATMs as I will be travelling all over.

We used CBA (Commonwealth Bank Australia). We set up the acocunt before we left england; which created a bank account in London. Paying money into this account transfers at the current rate directly into the new aussie account. This helps when folks back home want to send you cash!... but may not be the best option if you have thousands to convert - in which case the money brokers will save you more dollars.

Many accounts over here have inet banking options and most people pay for things (most shops accept) eftpos.

There are many other banks - ANZ, National, and many smaller banks, bendigo etc.... the choice has to be yours though.,..

Can you estimate how many ATM withrawals you will make each month ? as that will determine your costs to a great degree.
