So does Malaysia airlines. On unvalidated PR visa for one way ticket. I got this deal today flying from India to Sydney.
Pretty unusual for Malaysian these days, generally only Singapore and Emirates do it without an extra charge now. |

Qantas might allow your son to take the guitar on as carry on luggage, but he'll need to call them well in advance to arrange it. I've copied this from their site: "Items such as diplomatic or courier bags, musical instruments, artworks or technical equipment that exceed the above limits may be accepted at the discretion of the airline but arrangements must be made at least two days before you travel. You may need to purchase an extra seat." I wouldn't think a guitar would be so big he'd need to pay for an extra seat (they're probably thinking of cellos and the like) so who knows, he might be able to take it on board for free. I told them in an unabrasive manner that if I'd known in advance that BA have these strange restrictive policies then I wouldn't have booked to fly with them. I also said that I would also be unlikely to fly with then again in the future for the same reasons. His response was "Fine". Amazing really that the airline is still in business when they're providing customer service like that. Has anyone got any 190cm by 75cm by 65cm boxes I can have? :sneaky::rolleyes: Edit: The allowable "free" baggage allowance |

I've just spoken with someone at British Airways and they told me that my son can take his guitar on board as his single hold baggage item. The number of baggage items for the hold is strictly one item per person. However, he did tell me that I could put a suitcase in a box and "pad it out" with other items provided it's not bigger than 190cm by 75cm by 65cm. I'm not sure if I could fit a container of those dimensions safely in the car.

I had a similar conversation with BA customer service....the service bit makes me laugh. Completley unwilling to make any compromises and when I said I would take my business elswhere including my frequent business class travel that will occur back and forth to the UK, she just said fine
The answer for how to get around the single item problem seems to be to pack some bags together in a box. ...Inconvenient but do-able :sneaky:;). |
