Yes, they CAN and some but not all do charge a fee for being on their NHS waiting list, others like our dentist don't charge a fee although the last time I had a checkup a few weeks ago there was a sign up saying he was closing his books to NHS patients at the end of Oct so it might be the thin end of the wedge and I may have to queue up for a reduced number of NHS places in the near future. NHS - Crisis, what crisis?
