didnt realise at first !!!- you very rarely get beetroot on stuff in Scotland,

I thought the first time it happened in australia, i was just perhaps unlucky maybe the chef was just a bit partial to the old red root - wanting to plump up his salad,
second time (different restaurant) was getting a little suspicious and then the third time I realised that this was how it was it was going to be , so i did start asking not too have it!!

Its so popular here than that people put it in automatically and you get weird looks if you complain. The MIL thinks I'm weird cos I won't eat the stuff. I used to like it occasionally, but here its overkill. Can't get a sandwich at work without watching till they automatically reach for the stuff and then pointing out "I said NO beetroot" Even then the sandwich ends up purple cos all the knives are stained with it!!
Food of the devil, IMHO!

Ozzie brand beetroot is too sweet in my opinion. The best here is Heinz(from back home) if you can get it. I dont eat the Ozzie stuff anymore. Its shite.

I agree, beetroot should be forbidden and banned from all shops

I'll sign up for that one. Shall we start a petition?

Went to the cafe at work today. They said they couldn't make sandwiches to order (for the fourth day in a row) cos the equipment wasn't working....still trying to work that one out as they use sliced loaves, so even knives aren't an essential So they offered us a choice of five different prepacked ones. And every single flaming one had beetroot in.
I settled for chocolate

Why Jockstar...a very objective and balanced opinion. Oz Clark, you ain't!

I love beetroot. Beetroot is King. More of it I say. I meet the beetroot petition head-on. What say 'the woodz' are you in?
