Weber say : "Looking is not grilling"! Not sure if I agree with this.

I thought grilling was direct heating from underneath (or above).

If you are looking you are still grilling.

If you have the lid closed then you are using heat in the cavity and it's an oven.
You might still get better results.

I'll stick to my normal BBQ - it's all getting too hard.

You can have an exact weight measurement versus cooking all sorted, but nothing will ever take the place of you looking at your piece of food and going "Yep....looks good!" Lid closed is Roasting/Baking.....not in no way nor how is that grilling!!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grilling

I wouldn't go a weber.... only good for roasts a reall BBQ is cooked with the lid open.
try bunnings they have alright stuff for a good price

We're much the same, bought cheap thing, expensively through BBQ Galore and hated it.

Friends had a Weber and we had brekkie there one morning, amazing bacon! That was enough to sell it to us.

We've a family sized one, bought via Mitre 10 - they gave us free covers, cookbooks and cleaner too so bargains to be negotiated. We use for everything, particularly love the fish plate and the fish is incredibly moist every time.

As others said, if you enjoy your roasts, it's a must as it keeps the heat (and blowflies) out of the kitchen but I love steaks, vegies, desserts and even fried eggs etc too.

Worth the extra IMO.
