It's there holiday let them spend their time and money as they wish. And yep there are bound to be the odd numptys who cause problems when drunk but not the majority of Brit holiday makers.
If they're proud of wearing their national footie kit then surely we should be encouraging that as they are being patriotic to their country which is their choice? Other cultures do the same why can't we? I've been to Greece with my other half while two footie tournaments were on, and yep we ended up in the bars, as well as the Italians, Dutch, Germans AND GREEKS who were also cheering the games on. And if they emigrate and still choose to wear the footie shirt of their place of birth should they be shot down in flames for that? I had to reply to your post as I wanted to get that off my chest, I do find some posters tend to generalise a race of people due to rubbish they may have read in the papers or seen on the tele |
Re: BBC - Wanted Down Under
If anyone recorded the episode broadcast on Jan 23rd from Sydney with the Shields family from Ireland, I'd be very grateful if i could have a copy.

How gorgeous were the kids!? Does anyone know if they have been on this site? I would love to know how they are getting on/how far through the process they are. BTW, Dollydaydream2, I agree it's cr@p they're not showing Melbourne, but TBH, I would probably sit here & cry for the whole 45 minutes! So it's just as well really! (As my parents & sister are out there!) The whole programme today made me smile such a close family unit I wish them all the best. |

(As my parents & sister are out there!) We were really looking forward to seeing Melbourne as that is where we are hoping to go. We were there 9 years ago and loved it, so we have a idea of what its like, but we'd have loved to have seen it now, as I'm sure there are plenty of things that have changed. Also to get to see some of the houses there as well, and the suburbs. Ah well, we'll just have to wait until we get there. :) |
Re: BBC - Wanted Down Under
Victor Harbour looked lovely today. Dont understand why they were shown the first house though when it was way over budget and they didnt want a mortgage. At least the family and friends wished them well. Not many of the other have (or at least they havent been shown to).
Good luck to them Jx |

hi st georges girl,MY POST 442 was a good post on explaining why its a good reason to leave britian, and why i want to leave britain and i think alot of people on here would agree with me on it.
There is no oz syndrome on my post, Its an honest view of britain today,I do not think or have the oz wonderful syndrome either alot of people do i know.Everwhere has its fair share of crime & poverty, same as here, things dont always go to plan.In oz you got Deadley insects sharks bla bla bla....but ..there are pro's and cons to everything but in my box not alot of cons but deffo pros to go to oz...but and a big but just think if people are going to compare everything to back home as they prefer the pubs or the fish and chips the football and what ever else. Its that it winds me up....not everything will be to everyones taste but get on with it,ADAPT too many whinging poms :frown: give us a bad name, that is well known.I remember going to greece on holiday seeing footie fans with their proud to be british kit on spending everyday watching footie in the bars, not seeing the beach ot visiting the sights, not mingling with the greks just pissing it up and footie.....why go to greece!!!!!......people like that should stay here in the uk not emigrate..... Its not britain with the weather. Not everything is greener on the other side I know ,I was very impressed with todays show, the couple who looked at adelaide, as a guy never been away from heartfordshire,he took to adelaide and oz like a duck to water......accepted the fish and chips there, took to his job better than he thought was offered a job on the spot......better house than an ex council house they had back home, very adaptable very good show. from a life style prospective we could have a better life in oz better home, better weather.Better future for kids, thats what I am concerned about, certainly not that the tea is better in uk syndrome, Or i will miss my friends and family syndrome .I have got lets get out there and start a better life sydrome  I hope you are enjoying your life in perth.its got to be better than mine here.:o SORRY FOR THE LONG POST I AM A CHATTER BOX:eek: That is your opinion, not that of everyone's by any stretch of the imagination. Too many whinging poms eh? You have never been here and seen that for yourself, you have read it somewhere, or heard it second hand from someone else, so it must be true. Why bring the football fans in Greece into this? Maybe they were only there for the football and, so what if they were? I don't know whereabouts you are in the UK and I have no idea where you are thinking of setting up home if you get here, but my advice would be, don't believe everything you hear and read. I have read through a number of your posts again, including #442 and, in my humble opinion, from the way you post, nothing anyone could say to you would make any difference. You have your mind made up that life is better in Australia, even without ever having been here yourself. Oz is great syndrome. |
