BBC Iplayer to go global

Just been surfing around some sites and I found this on the endgadget site and thought it may be of some interest.

Such is the word from John Smith, the generically named head of BBC Worldwide, who sees the international market for British shows as "under-exploited" and wants to see the iPlayer opened up beyond the Queen's home isles. Of course, since continental Europeans and North Americans aren't subject to the same backbreaking TV license fee, there'll be a new commercial element to the service, though the Beeb's bigwigs have yet to figure out if that means users will have to pay a levy or put up with some ads. Either way, we've got quite a few eager iPlayer viewers on our own staff, so we imagine whenever and however the switch does get flipped, it'll be welcomed by all.

I would use it too, even if it's subscription based but worried my broadband is not fast enough or it would stuff up my monthly data quota. Even low def youtube vids are not exactly a pleasure to watch in oz

not a big tv person but will look forward to maybe being able to watch some bbc drama's quite miss them, loved Luther, watching it again with my hubby over here :rofl:
would be happy to pay a very little bit for it:p

go to google and search footy p2p EU it should be the top result (well at least it is hear in the UK) and have a look at that site I think that will sort out your football requirements and other sports too :cool:
