I used to love the gollies on the jam. My favourite toy was my gollie and I even bought one to remind me of the lovely times I had as a kid:wub: |

I used to collect the golly badges. The first record my mother bought me was a 78 (now that gives away how ancient I am) called "Black Sambo", and I can still remember the lyrics!

My Mum had that book. We didn't have the Robinsons badges, we had these little statue things. Both my brother and I had Golliwogs knitted for us as kids.

Re: Basic differences between Aus and the UK
When I was back in UK last year, We went to a hobby/ craft farm. I saw the most beaugtifully made Golly family for sale. Not old but brand new.
The artwork was just beautiful. There was even a grandma sitting in a rocking chair. I didnt see it for the old connotations people associate with it, just the incredible beauty of them. |
