Barbecues and booze
I only like to have barbecues very occasionally (4 times a year) and I am a modest consumer of alcohol.
How will I get on in Oz?
Anybody else same as me?
cheers

I intend to BBQ like a demon when I move to Oz! BBQ's in the UK are rubbish, my brother in Sydney tells me they BBQ at least twice a week, it's just like regular eating/cooking for them! I don't think the beer thing would be a problem, it's not like Aussies are permanently pished!

So what else is a fave drink in Oz apart from beer?
I hate beer, lager and wine!!
But love my Jack Daniels and other spirits.
GEMS.

I'm used to paying no more than $7.50 max (and that includes Hardys) for a wide range of reds over here.
Had a special here before crimbo for 4 bottles of Hardy's red & white (various) for €10.00 ($16.50) per box (of 4)

...but it's different. Went to a bottle shop for wine and saw some on the shelf behind the counter. "out of interest how much is Bombay Saphire wondering if it's worth getting my in-laws to buy it on the way here" i said to nice bottle shop man. He informed me to get it duty free as not only is it a lot cheaper it's better stuff and the alcohol percentage is higher than than the stuff you can buy here! Don't know why that is though.
I suppose it's just like Cadbury's chocolate having different ingredients and tasting different over here.

Yes it is easily obtainable, but damn expensive. I just drink wine, it's a fraction of the price! Perhaps when we have visitors from the UK I'll ask them to get me some in duty free to pay their rent....
