Default Bar suggestions for Sydney??

Can anyone reccommend a good bar in the city, that does good food too? I've been in sydney for a while, living out in the Suburbs (as you do). Now I've got a friend visiting and I'm supposed to arrange to meet somewhere, but up to now I've been more than happy to avoid the city, so not familar with where the decent spots are.

anyone care to make suggestion?

Has to be The Opera Bar under the Opera House. Superb views right in front of the Harbour Bridge. We had a lovely lunch there and the other weekend i noticed a live jazz band playing on the forecourt.

Tourist

- do the Rocks at Circular Key for the drink and pick anyone of them for food
- again tourist but nice Darling Harbour and all the choices round there and not far to dander up to China town if you like a change.

In either case arrange to meet at Train or main meeting point and then walk around the two areas above, that way you can choose what you like and get a feel for the price.

Unless you have a specific idea of food or what you like doing it can be difficult to advise.

The Casino is also another choice there are a few restaurants over that way and you can have a wander around the bars.

Cheers

I always enjoy The Australian Hotel pub. Does a huge range of decent beers and good pizzas too. Simple pleasures!

We also had lunch there a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday when a blues type band was playing. Food was excellent, weather glorious. and beautiful views.

A good choice!

How about the Northies Hotel in Cronulla, loads of free entertainment at the weekends.
