Hi all
Can anyone please give me some advice on bank accounts, opening from the uk, as we were adviced to open a bank account before we move to aus to improve our credit rating.
can someone let me know which are the best banks to go with or stay away from.

I went into a HSBC branch in the UK and opened up a HSBC australian account, simply filled out a few forms.
After arriving I looked at aus banks but since they all charge fees I decided to stick with HSBC and used that for 5 years in aus with no fees

We opened an account online with NAB before we moved over. I am not particularly recommending them or otherwise, but opening the account was straightforward. I wouldn't have thought an unused bank account would do much for your credit rating.
