Default Bank questions?

Can i send a cheque from my Oz bank account in pounds to pay for goods in the UK?
My parents also sent me a cheque from my council tax rebate, which is in pounds, can i deposit that in my oz account?

I know you can do the electronic transfers but was wondering if this is possible as it suits me better than getting my parents to pay for me and transferring money to their account.

With regards to paying in Sterling cheques, it depends on your oz bank - my OH deposited a 700 sterling cheque and Westpac charged him $50 to cash it and it took three and a half weeks to clear.
Your oz cheques will be in australian dollars and will be cashed as such, you cant change the dollar sign on the cheque I am afraid. You might be able to ask your bank to create a sterling cheque but I would imagine they would charge.
