Bank issues - advice please
Has anyone been in the situation of flying out to one place but actually planning to settle in another?
Me and my husband want to do a bit of travelling first and also plan to spend some time with his mum, but she lives in NSW in a one- horse- tin -pot -town and we plan to settle in Victoria, most likely Melbourne, a few weeks/months later.
Obviously we want to activate a bank account a.s.a.p. Commonwealth Bank asks you to state where you are heading and haven't been overly helpful with our inability to give concrete plans.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Hi!
Why don't you just open an account stating the address where you are staying, then just change it when you move?
We had a motel address when we opened our accounts. as long as you do it within something like the first 6 weeks of arrival, allo you need is your passport for ID. No proof of address and 3 bills etc and all that palava like in the UK!
I guess if you open with a big national bank it won't be a problem? You just need ID for your change of address when you settle down
