bank accounts

What do you all suggest regarding opening Australian bank accounts while still in the UK? We are due to move to Brisbane in 6 weeks or so, and we are still unsure what to do with our bank accounts. We have 3 at the moment, one each and a joint account. The equity from our house sale will be dealt with by HIFX, who sorted our bond out with no problems. Is there a bank in Aus with a lot more branches than any other? We are currently with Lloyds/ TSB at the moment & know that we must open a new account once in Brissie. We will need to keep an account in the Uk for the forseeable future. We will need a bank that will supply us with credit cards etc, we shouldn't need a mortgage for property but may need access to credit etc. We have had a credit rating done by a company in the Uk and it came back with excellent results so hopefully that will help us with any credit facilities we will need in the future. Cheers, Steve and Tracey.

Try the Commonwealth Bank , there are 4 in Brissie. Apply to the London Branch (take 6 days to open an account ) they will open one here and one in Brissie. Probably not the best bank to bank with judging by reports on this site, but you can always change once your there.
