It is fairly easy, if you do a search for opening bank accounts you will get loads of answers. We opened ours with Commonwealth Bank andit was straight forward enough.

Same here..you can do it through the post, you have to transfer money to activate the account in Oz.

You can open an account with the Commonwealth Bank via their London office. This can be done on-line using their migrant banking site - www.migrantbanking.co.uk. We also used hifx.co.uk to transfer our money as they offer much better rates than the banks (please let me know if you decide to use them).

I printed off the forms and posted them, then within about 3 weeks I had a new account set up
