Has anyone got a recommended bank with whom we can open an account in the UK then draw upon once we get to Oz, in around 6 weeks time?

Any advice greatly appreciated

thanks for that, yes Commonwealth Bank seem to offer all the required services.

The foreign exchange thing seems trick and with plenty of opportunity to lose £000's in the blink of an eye!

Hi, i managed to open one online with HSBC in Oz, all u have to do if take a few forms down to your local branch, deposit $2000 and away you go. Try them

Spoke to Migrant banking (Commonwealth Bank) yesterday in York, Got some great info. They will gladly open an account for you within the Uk, no monies needed to open such an account. You can then deposit how ever much you like. But if you are transfering monies from your UK account to your OZ account it will cost you!!! Pointless transfering 30 quid if it costs you 20 to do it. Look at these sites hopefully they will help.

I have just changed money over using Tranzfers they only charge £7 my bank wanted to charge me £18 but I told them to eff off lol
