Bangkok on hold, holiday in Oz

Hi Guys. I've just found out that the company I work for has run out of work permits for Thailand so it might be a while before I move to Bangkok. I have therefore decided to go on a validation trip to Melbourne sometime in February. Has anyone got any advice on where to stay/visit while we are there? We would love to meet a few expats while we are over.

I was in Torquay a few weeks ago, it's lovely there, it's the gate to the Great Ocean Road which is a fantastic drive if you have time to do it.
If you're staying in Melbourne www.questapartments.com are good I've stayed in several in WA. There is also a new upmarket backpackers which has just opened up in St Kilda but can't remember the name.
If you like cricket and theres any games on definitly go to the Mcg. Theres a free city explorer tram that takes you around the city.

Have gone blank on anything even though there is loads to see and do. Hope the above helps. :)

Hi Dave & Jen

Me & Neil thought you have already gone to Thailand.

Try: www.shortstayapartments.com.au when you are travelling with two young children.

We stayed in one of their apartments in CBD - South Bank, when we were there in 2003. The apartment is fully furnished... fitted kitchen with cooking appliances includ. microwave oven so it's handy for sterilising bottles, warming up milk & cooking if your kids are too tired to go out for the evening meal. Bathroom has both washing machine & dryer. They also provide cot beds on request. We prefer staying in apartment/suite after Indigo was born... when she has gone to bed in the bedroom, we can chill out with a bottle of wine!

Would you like to join us for the Central London Meet on 13 March? It'll be lovely to see you again before us leaving UK for Melbourne in April.

Pat
... we met in the Surrey Meet in Oct in case you have forgot the little Chinese girl

We are probably going to leave the kids at the Grandparents, as they have already said it is OK and fly to Melbourne on our own. The Thailand move will happen later in the year.

We'll try to make the London Meet, it would be great to see you again. Good luck with your move to Melbourne.

Dave & Jen
