Default Bangkok Airport - ten hour layover - help:)

Hi I am flying very soon with Thai via Bangkok (From Brisbane) then onwards from there with Turkish to Istanbul. Unfortunately, this involved a ten hour layover in Bangkok airport on the way back. I am not looking forward to this, but the ticket was a lot cheaper so I guess I will have to suffer

I would love to hear anyone else's experiences of layovers at Bangkok and if you have any suggestions that would be great as I am travelling with two teenagers

Thanks
Debs

In the transit area there is a booth selling tours of Bangkok, varying in duration from 3-4 hours up to 7-8 hours. You have a choice of what you want to see - we chose the temples which were fantastic. Cost is reasonable (about 25 pounds a head from memory for 4 hours) and for that we got a private car, driver and guide. Exit and re-entry to the airport is done on a priority basis with no fuss.

Our stopover was late afternoon to evening and we finished up our tour with a boat trip up the canals ($50 extra) which was just magic.

Novotel at the airport is excellent. Get a room, have a nice shower and catch some sleep.

Thanks Cherokee, the Tours sound great - will investigate them on the way over and also Centurion's suggestion of the Novotel.
