We came in on a 457 about 4 weeks ago. Got 30kg from Singapore Airlines. We had more than 60 kg with us at Heathrow. The sweet lady at the check in was very nice once we told her that though on a 457, we plan to apply for PR and stay permanently in Aus. Finally travelled with three pieces of luggage, combined weight of 72kg! Hope you are that lucky too:)

Generally you will find that the baggage allowance does not increase for PR visa accross most airlines. It does not make any difference to the airline if you are PR or not.
What does make a difference is how full the plane is, how much fuel that they have taken on board and who is checking you in and how good you are at looking like someone who needs help. It is unusual for you to be charged for extra allowance for a good 10-15kg over the airline limit. Bear in mind that there is a possibility that you could be charged if the flight is full. |
