Red face Bad Credit Record - Is it a problem?

Thanks for all your help re speeding ticket - really helped!

One thing I do worry about is my past credit record - CCj's etc - does that affect getting your visa at all? Once we've sold our house all loans, debts etc will be paid off anyway so we'll have a clean slate!

My husband has a great credit record - mine is the problem lol! We're going on his skilled PR visa as I have been a full time mum for 3 years

from other threads I have read your credit history doesn't follow you to Oz, start again when you get there.

there were some tongue in cheek remarks before Christmas about running up the cards coz not be here to pay them, I guess thing to remember is that record might still be here when you do come back!! lol

I had wondered about this same issue this week, mostly in relation to my student loans. Does this mean that none of my debt here will be checked on by mortgage lenders, or credit companies in Oz?

We all start with a clean slate when we get to the other side, could be a blessing for some !. If you leave debt's in the UK then i am told that they are void after 6 years, so don't come back for a while ( must stress that i am not planing on doing this, had to put this in for the better half )

Oh, nono, I didn't mean that I am planning to default on my student loans. I was just wondering if the debt obligation is looked at by lenders in Australia. I mean, I have $18,000US in student loans, I am hoping that when we apply for mortgages and car loans, and the like, that they will not be looked at.

Just to remind everyone - I have posted info on another post re credit cards - if you leave a debt here, they will catch up with you in Australia and vica versa. You will have to pay any debts back.
