Babysitters in Sydney

Hi

We moved to Sydney a couple of months ago and haven't had a night out without our daughter. Can anyone recommend any babysitting services in Sydney and share any experiences.

Thanks

I'm not in Sydney and can't personally recommend anyone but try here, http://www.careforkids.com.au/search...p?ut=4&ctype=2

If you look up Sydney Newcomers they run a babysitting circle - would it be an option for you to join that? Cheaper than babysitters and you may make some friends in the process!

Hope you get a night out soon :)

This crowd posts ads at playgrounds in posh areas of Sydney:

I don't know anything about them, so this is not a recommendation. But if you're going to leave your child with a stranger you should at least look them over first.

Have you gotten to know any neighbours? My 16 year old daughter regularly babysits for our neighbours' kids who rang in age from 4 to 12.

You could also look at the local TAFE to see if anyone in the early childhood education courses might like to pick up some extra cash.

Every time I've moved, I've used the childcare workers from my kids' childcare centre. You know they have been vetted and they like kids - hopefully ;) - so they should be pretty safe. Even if your daughter doesn't go to childcare, you could go to your local centre, introduce yourself and ask. The girls are often happy to pick up babysitting work as extra income as they are underpaid and undervalued IMHO.

Also, chat with other mums/dads at the playground and ask them if they can recommend anyone. Local community centre/maternal health centre/neighbourhood house is also a good place to ask for referrals and check out ads.
