If you can brave the cold - Pirates is showing at the drive-in in Kingsley. Your little one can sleep in the car.
PS - nice meeting you earlier!

Thanks for all the tips, I might see about checking at our local childcare or college then. I live quite a way from where my son goes to childcare(it's between home and work) so thought maybe the girls from there would find it a bit far to come out to where i live, but a notice on the local college/uni board would be a little closer or checking the local childcare centre.

I used to babysit in Australia when I was 14-18 and I charged $6 an hour back then. That was errmm well it was about 15 years ago
I think $15 is about fair - and if I were babysitting now, that is what I'd be charging.
Whenever I babysat - the parents left tea, coffee etc and I usually took some munchies along (if it were going to be a late night). Usually I did homework (after the littlies were in bed).
The only time I charged double, was when 2 families who I babysat thought they could combine their kids at one house and that I'd look after them all for $6! I was 14 at the time and it was 6 kids under 5 with 2 of them under 1. There was a storm and the lights went out, I couldn't find a torch or candles and then the 2 babies woke up at the thunder and were sobbing! I was petrified of thunder so ended up in the bedroom with the babies both in my arms! Was not a fun night and I earned every penny of that $12 p/h
Maybe a good way of meeting a prospective babysitter is to advertise for a mother's helper/babysitter. You could always 'trial' the prospective babysitter by having them come after school etc a few days a week (and you could see how they interact with your children). I went to an interview for a mother's helper/babysitter but did not take the job, however I think it is a good idea.
Not all teenage girls are silly or untrustworthy and provided you set rules for how you want your children cared for in your absence, then there should be few problems.
