Default Baby clothing sizes?

Can anyone shed any light on what clothing sizes mean here??

I keep seeing 0000, 000, 00 etc

Presuming 2 means 2 years though?!!!

As well as the 0s it normally gives you a weight in kgs. 2 does mean 2years if your child happens to fit into the garment!!!

Well Littlen is 20 months but is wearing 2 year old clothes quite comfortably. I wonder why there isn't a simple system like 0-3 months etc. You soon know what your children fit into anyway.

0000 = smallest newborn
000 = medium newborn
00 = large newborn

I think.

LOL Tim and I were confused also. We were looking at clothes for babies and saw 00, so thought aha new born. Then we saw 000, and were bemused,and then saw 0000 and started laughing. I think the other shoppers must have thought we were mad.

Hi there, although we live in the UK (still) we get loads of clotes sent over for our daughter.
The sizes are as follows:

0000 0-3 months
000 3-6 months
00 6-9 months
0 9-12 months
1 1 yr old
2 2 yr old
etc..etc...

It was confusing for us at first but now she's 3 and in size 3 clothes it makes sense.

Hi Marie,
Now I am totally confused. On the maternity ward we have 0000, 000, 00, and most newborns wear size 000. Maybe all babies in queensland are huge

0000 newborn- tends to be for babies around 3kg and these clothes are too small for many babies, also they grow out of them very quickly -that's why they wear - 000 -for bablies around up to 6kilos.

here you go:
list to print out, you should go by the weight of the baby according to a bloke here.

0000 newborn, weight 3kg.
000 , weight 6 kgs, up to 3 months
00, weight, 8 kg's, up to 6 " "
0, weight, 10kg, up to 9 " "
1, weight 12 kg, up to 12 months.

It goes in up in two kilos bar the newborn

depends on the brands too, regarding how good a fit they are

This is courtsey of a "Modern" bloke in the office who has a brood of kids - who knows his baby clothes - I'm impressed! lol.
So don't blame me if they aren't exact
depends on how well the brands fit with those sizes, like adult clothes too I suppose If you know what I mean.

I'm just amazed that our 8 month old is still wearing the same 0000 singlet that he had from birth. It just seems to stretch as he grows, although I doubt it will last him until his teens.

At least its winter now and we can use all the clothes that friends and family sent from the UK

Not ours She was born at 2.2kg and swam in most of the 0000 stuff we could find ... there's a large variation in the interpretations of sizes too.

She's up to nearly 5kg now and people still say how small she looks ... looks like a chubby bruiser to me now

Cheers,
Matt
