Re: Baby bonus
I would say that the baby has to be in Australia and be living with the person claiming the baby bonus to be eligible. You can't just show up with no baby and ask the government to pay you for a child that is not even in the country. So if your family move here before the baby is 24 weeks and you satisfy the residency requirements as per OneSmallVoice's links above (again, before the baby is 24 weeks), you might be able to claim.

Re: Baby bonus
Does the baby have a visa to enable him/her to live in Australia?

Re: Baby bonus
If the baby is born after the 176 is granted then he/she can't be added to it. They'd have to apply for a Child Visa 101 for the baby.

That's what I was trying to say, he won't able to claim. If the baby doesn't even have a visa, I know it can be added on a later date before the mum comes in.

Re: Baby bonus
The baby has to be born in Australia, and have an Australian birth certificate to prove it, in order for you to receive the baby bonus

Re: Baby bonus
Practically, the timeline makes it almost impossible as you'd have to have the baby added to your visa application before grant and then migrate within the 6 months deadline or get a child visa and migrate before the 6 months is up. The paperwork and visa deadlines make the above almost impossible to achieve, but there is no requirement for the baby to have an Australian birth certificate or to be born here, as long as they meet the residency requirements at the time of claiming the baby bonus.
